How we work

1. Engage

This is the first step in our design process with you. This is where we get to know each other and determine if we are a good fit for your specific project. We provide information on our process and way of working and like to find out a little bit about you.

2. Discover and analyse

In this stage we ask questions and listen in order to clearly identify your needs and wants and try to understand your personal values. We visit, record and analyse the site or home conditions and identify and determine any relevant regulatory conditions and requirements. This process informs the creation of a Detailed Brief, where we analyse your project budget and determine how your brief and budget fit together. We then work directly with you to fine-tune and create a plan that makes the most of your brief and your budget.

3. Create

We use our Detailed Brief to explore the design of spaces, how they relate to each other and with the outside environment and the overall concept of your building. We consider form, materials, aesthetics, sustainability, flow and we strive to only design what you can afford to build.

4. Develop

Here we further develop the design, engage with engineers and other consultants to complete the team. We prepare and submit drawings and applications to the relevant development and planning bodies and determine the best way to move forward based on the submission outcomes. This is also where we start having conversations with potential builders, to gain more insight into building costs and to initiate a relationship with your preferred contractor.

5. Document

At this stage of the process we look at the details for building. We develop the systems, confirm materials and work with you to complete the holistic vision. We ask you lots of questions in regard to your inclusions and preferences. As part of these questions we provide our detail suggestions and guidance, to help out when needed and assist in completing the full vision for the project. We prepare the drawings, specifications and documents for relevant building approvals and construction.

6. Approvals

This is where the boxes get ticked by the relevant authorities, ready to start construction. It is a bit of a waiting game so to keep things moving we also seek costings from preferred builders.

7. Detail

Here we prepare and document the material and fixture selections and details, for those things not required as part of the approvals process. We work with you, as required to complete this stage.

8. Manage

Once the previous stages are complete, we facilitate a hand-over to your chosen builder and we are available to undertake construction management if and when needed, to see your project through to realisation.
