Mount Stuart Renovation

The brief with this family home in Mount Stuart was to make best use of the existing footprint to accommodate the family of 5 (plus Luca the dog), without encroaching on the backyard space too much. Key needs: a bit more room to move, better flow and connection to outside, and more natural light. Our goals: reuse and repurpose resourcefully where possible.

Lovely existing mid-century elements were selectively retained during this reno, with new handles refreshing existing joinery + storage. The original Blackwood kitchen was repurposed to make the bathroom vanity + laundry bench, with the existing partial concrete slab ground and sealed for a hard wearing kitchen floor. Thermal efficiency was increased with the installation of new thermally broken aluminium windows and insulation throughout. Plumbing zones have remained in (or very close to) existing points to reduce unnecessary cost.

The result is a home with lots of natural light, easy access to outdoor spaces + a straight forward flow through the house to support a smooth and nourishing family life.
